artists in residence from
central st martins, london
As part of Creative Unions, Central Saint Martins has partnered with The Old Courts, to take six students/graduates up north, for a week-long micro residency. This will culminate in an exhibition open to the public, and it would be just fantastic if you'd all come out and see it.
The 6 artists have been invited to create work over a one week period in the historic setting of The Old Courts, with opportunities to embed themselves in local communities. The Old Courts is a not-for-profit venue in a disused magistrates’ court – including old prison cells – and is one of the physically largest arts venues in Britain and a dynamic creative hub for the local area. It stands in the heart of Wigan, a former working-class industrial powerhouse made famous by George Orwell’s 1937 book The Road to Wigan Pier (this year is the book’s 80th anniversary).
