A dance piece about multiplication? Count me in!
The Old Courts recently hosted rehearsals for WN Dance Company, a new dance outfit made up of 20 young people aged 11-17 from Wigan and Leigh.
The company are working on 'Unequal Things Are Equal', a piece that brings the multiplication table to life through music and dance! Choreographed by Hawk Dance Theatre’s Josh Hawkins in a short 2 day intensive, the dancers have devised and created all the movement themselves. Get ready for some fast and furious counting and see maths come to life like never before!

"We chose The Old Courts because we wanted a rehearsal space that would feel like a professional setting for the young people involved. We also wanted the final video to look really professional and the lighting and setting helped with that!" - Amy Burdon, WigLe Dance.
All members of the newly formed WN Dance Company were selected because of their talent and potential from an audition process back in September.
Unequal Things Are Equal will be performed at the Wigan & Leigh Dance Festival on Sunday 24th March at Wigan Youth Zone, followed by a provisional special showcase evening for the dance company at the Old Courts later in the year to finish the project. The company are also applying to be part of various Youth Dance festivals across the borough - we wish them the best of luck!
