A show by disabled people about our right to exist.
While the world outside is in chaos, three neurodiverse inhabitants of an apocalyptic bunker are doing their best to survive.
Blending film, live performance and conversation, Touretteshero’s funny, surreal and moving show explores resistance and joy in the face of a crisis.
The follow up to Touretteshero’s smash-hit productions ‘Backstage in Biscuit Land’ and ‘Not I’ by Samuel Beckett, featuring writer, artist, and activist Jess Thom.
Jess Thom on what to expect from the show:
“Biscuits! You can expect lots of biscuits and some ridiculously catchy songs. Moments of rage, moments of joy, laughter and connection. Expect to be in a space that celebrates disability culture, neurodiversity and difference.”
All performances will be live streamed, so you can experience the show at the venue, or online. You can book tickets for the in person and live streamed shows by clicking the Tickets link on the right hand side of the page.
Filming, photography, and live streaming will be taking place throughout each of these events. Please contact access@theoldcourts.com if you have any questions about this.
All performances will be relaxed, captioned in English and will have audio descriptions built-in. There will also be COVID-related access provisions in place.
The event will also include a work-in-progress sharing of Space Chronic-ills (working title) by local artist Ash Cox.
“After being knocked off course and discovering her spacecraft is failing, a seemingly resolute commander and her overbearing Virtual Assistant work together to refocus her mission and challenge their stellar evolution.”
Join Commander Ash Tronomy in the exploration of failure, resistance, disclosure and joy as they attempt to authentically reframe their lived experience of invisible illness and internalised ableism through Sci-Fi.
This 12-minute cabaret-esq work-in-progress sharing shows the early stages of development for this piece, focusing on text, sound and movement.
There will be a feedback form available post-sharing to support further research and development.
Supported by the Collaborative Touring Network, Unlimited and Wigan Old Courts. In association with Touretteshero.
