John Powers back to the stage at The Old Courts TONIGHT - GET YOUR TICKETS QUICK - LAST FEW REMAIN!
Following a sell-out gig in the Victorian Court Room a year ago, ‘Cast’ frontman and The La’s bass guitarist, John Power will return to play an intimate acoustic show in The Grand Vault on Friday 22nd July.
Since bursting on the scene with Cult Liverpool band "The La's" in the mid 80's, John Power has written and performed some of the best loved records in UK music. His distinctive vocal tone has struck a chord with audiences with hits such as 'Walkaway' and 'Alright' and his seminal band 'Cast' became one of the key players in the Britpop phenomenon that swept the music industry in the 90's.
To this day, John's live performance bears all the same faultless yet honest qualities that have endeared him to millions of faithful fans the world over. John will be treating us to his new material together with some classic hits from his catalogue.
Support on the evening comes from local musician, Mark Frith. Having amassed more gigging and touring experience than most, Mark Frith takes to the stage and exudes confidence and passion. His song writing leans to The La’s and The Beatles, his guitar playing to John Squire and folk masters and his repertoire is mind-blowingly vast.
Also supporting John Power is former Darktown Jubilee singer and chief songwriter David Boardman who decided now was the time to pursue a project he's had on the backburner for several years. A long-time lover of all things folky and rootsy, David has been writing acoustic based music for many years and will be showcasing these songs under the banner of Fine Lines on the evening.
Jonathan Davenport, Director at The Old Courts said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome John back to The Old Courts. Last year’s gig was a huge success and it’s looking like this time will be a sell-out too. Tickets are £8 in advance and can be purchased from The Old Courts website.”
