Ian Whiteley is a poet and singer songwriter from Wakefield who has lived in Wigan for past 27 years.

He has written 4 books of poetry and recorded 8 albums of music and poetry in the last 10 years or so.Every 2nd Thursday of the month, Ian hosts our Open Mic Poetry in the Bailiff Bar.

Tired of people telling him ‘you don’t look like a poet’, Ian wants to spread the word that poetry doesn’t have a ‘look’ and everyone can be a poet. As our guest speaker at Get Involved Socials, Ian will discuss poetry: what it takes, how to structure it and where it can take you.
