Our Spaces

Explore the different rooms, spaces and venues we own, run and manage.

It is very important that we ask anyone who is thinking about coming to an event with additional accessibility requirements to contact the venue prior to booking tickets, all of our events are different and we have to assess the risks involved individually. Our team are happy to discuss your personal needs in detail and will always strive to do what we can to assist within the boundaries of safety and comfort.

  • A wheelchair ramp

A wheelchair ramp to access the building via the Bailiff Bar entrance 1 on King St. West. This ramp makes it suitable for wheelchair users to access the stage for any events with an open mic. It’s best to let us know before the start of the night if you wish to access the stage and we will set up the room accordingly.

  • Super Trac

A Super Trac suitable for standard-sized wheelchairs- maximum width 700mm- maximum weight 120kg. This climbs stairs to make every floor of the building accessible. This can only be used by one wheelchair at a time and is operated by a member of staff. Please book prior to ordering tickets to ensure trained members of staff are on shift.

    E-mail to book.

  • Toilets

We have an accessible toilet in the Bailiff Bar & on our Theatre landing which is also accessible from our Courtroom.

  • What We Need

Your feedback. Please visit us and tell us your access needs so we can continue to try and access funds to fully update the building and our events so they are welcoming for everyone.

  • Assistance & Guide Dogs

We love dogs at The Old Courts and have our own office dogs; Bear, Alf and Lenny. Whilst assistance dogs are welcome into our venues unfortunately there are some events, particularly those containing live music, that aren’t suitable for dogs’ sensitive ears. If you have any concerns or would like to speak to a member of staff prior to an event please ring 01942 834747

  • Dementia Friends

A number of our staff have been trained by Dementia Friends in an effort to be sensitive and further understand the support that our visitors with Dementia need.

  • When can I visit The Old Courts?

Our opening times can be found by clicking here. Each venue within The Old Courts has different opening times and can depend on what event is programmed. Please check your tickets for door times.

Wearing a face covering is now a legal requirement unless exempt and we are encouraging you to do a lateral flow test before visiting.

  • What COVID measures are in place at The Old Courts?

Following the latest updates from the Government, we are reintroducing COVID safe measures to help keep you and our staff safe.

    1. Face coverings will be worn by staff (visors where possible so we don’t exclude anyone hard of hearing). Please note, just like the public, some of our staff may also be exempt from wearing masks.
    2. Face coverings are to be worn by the public, unless exempt or when eating or drinking in our cafe and bar area or when drinking in our auditoriums during seated or standing events.
    3. All Staff will take a lateral flow test prior to entering the building.
    4. Our back of house staff will work from home where possible and when onsite they will be taking lateral flow tests daily and wearing face masks when moving around the building.
    5. Hand sanitizers stations located around the building.
    6. Extra cleaning in place.
    7. We are encouraging contactless payments onsite where possible.
    8. We will not be operating a controlled entry system requiring you to show an NHS COVID pass or negative lateral flow test as we fall under the capacity limit specified in the government guidance. However, to help keep staff, audience and performers safe, we are asking everyone to be respectful and vigilant to minimise the risk to others by taking a Covid test before your visit. If your test is positive and/or you are showing symptoms of Covid, please take the necessary actions and do not attend the venue.

We know organisations around the area and country will have different measures in place at different times depending on the size of their business. However, we are following Government guidelines and implementing all compulsory regulations.

We would appreciate if we can work together with our audiences and respect one another in keeping everyone safe. This is another period of adjustment, and we will be keeping a close eye on the changes to restrictions from the Government.

Please be kind to fellow customers and our wonderful team who are trying their best in these difficult times. We will not tolerate any abuse of the staff team, and will take action against anyone who  directs aggression or abuse towards our team.

Thank you as always for your support,

    Much love and stay safe.
